Powerful Gentleness - Repost from May 28,2023

Gentleness Is One Of The Fruit Of The Spirit That We Need Most In Our World Today. In An Atmosphere Of Harshness, Anger, And Frustration, Gentleness Stands Out.

When The Bible Mentions Gentleness, Most Of The Time, It Is Speaking About How We Should Act Gently Toward Others.

“BUT EVEN IF YOU SHOULD SUFFER FOR WHAT IS RIGHT, YOU ARE BLESSED. ‘DO NOT FEAR THEIR THREATS; DO NOT BE FRIGHTENED.’ BUT IN YOUR HEARTS REVERE CHRIST AS LORD. ALWAYS BE PREPARED TO GIVE AN ANSWER TO EVERYONE WHO ASKS YOU TO GIVE THE REASON FOR THE HOPE THAT YOU HAVE. BUT DO THIS WITH GENTLENESS AND RESPECT.”                                                                                    1 PETER 3:14-15 (NIV)

All Of The Fruit Of The Spirit Are Connected To Each Other. Gentleness Is Connected To Love And Kindness. When We Are Led By The Spirit, We Are Embracing All Of The Attributes

Of The Spirit In A United Way.

“AS A PRISONER FOR THE LORD, THEN, I URGE YOU TO LIVE A LIFE WORTHY OF THE CALLING YOU HAVE RECEIVED. BE COMPLETELY HUMBLE AND GENTLE; BE PATIENT, BEARING WITH ONE ANOTHER IN LOVE.”                                                                                    EPHESIANS 4:1-2 (NIV)

WHAT DOES THE LORD TEACH US ABOUT GENTLENESS?

Jesus Modeled Gentleness For Us.

“TAKE MY YOKE UPON YOU AND LEARN FROM ME, FOR I AM GENTLE AND HUMBLE IN HEART, AND YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.”                                                                                         MATTHEW 11:29 (NIV)

“BY THE HUMILITY AND GENTLENESS OF CHRIST, I APPEAL TO YOU—I, PAUL, WHO AM ‘TIMID’ WHEN FACE TO FACE WITH YOU, BUT ‘BOLD’ TOWARD YOU WHEN AWAY!”                                   2 CORINTHIANS 10:1 (NIV)

Though Jesus Had All Power, He Is Described As Gentle.

START WITH YOUR WORDS

The Words I Choose To Use When I Speak With Others And The Meaning Behind Them Are Powerful. Words Spoken While Using A Gentle Heart Means We Are Walking With The

Spirit’s Direction. That We Are Not Getting Caught Up In Our World’s Harshness And Anger.

Having A Gentle Heart Doesn’t Mean You Are Weak Or Inconsequential. It Doesn’t Mean Things Don’t Bother You Or You Can’t Stand Up For Yourself Or What You Believe. You

Totally Can. But The Key Is All About How You Do That. The Way You Speak, The Attitude You Use, And The Meaning Behind It Is What Matters.

LEARN FROM GOD’S WORDS

As We Read Scripture And Consider How God Speaks To Moses, Noah, And How Jesus Speaks To The Woman Caught In Adultery, We Have Great Examples Of How We Should

Handle Our Interactions With Those Around Us. And I Also Get Hope That I Can Speak Truth Into The Lives Of Others Because Of The Power Of The Holy Spirit.

BE SLOW TO ANGER

We Live In A World That Is Busy And Rushed, So It Is Easy To Speak Without Thought Or Consideration. Each Day, My Prayer Is For You That You Will Not Only See How God Is

Speaking To You In Many Different Ways, But You Can Learn More About How God Sees And Loves You. Walk With The Spirit And You Will Be Gentle With Those Around You And

With Yourself.
