Part 4: Called to Serve

FOUNDATIONS: WHAT WE BELIEVE

PART 4

Luke 10:1-20

EVERY CHRISTIAN IS A PERSON ON MISSION.

“After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to every town and place where He was about to go. He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.” Luke 10:1-3 (NIV)

  • God blesses you to be a blessing.

Genesis 12 – Abraham
Exodus 3 – Moses
Isaiah 6 – Isaiah

  • The harvest is plentiful

“He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.’” Luke 10:2 (NIV)

  • Every Christian is on a powerful mission.

“The seventy-two returned with joy and said, ‘Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name.’ He replied, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” Luke 10:17-19 (NIV)

  • There is joy in doing our mission for God.

“The seventy-two returned with joy and said, ‘Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name.’” Luke 10:17 (NIV)

“As you sent Me into the world, I have sent them into the world.” John 17:18 (NIV)

“Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.” Luke 10:3 (NIV)

“I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of My joy within them.” John 17:13 (NIV)

  • Every Christian is on a unique mission.

“When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’” Luke 10:8-9 (NIV)

“For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited Me in.” Matthew 25:35 (NIV)

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

“However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20 (NIV)
