Colossians 1:24-29

  • The Big Idea of Colossians: Reset your life by putting Jesus first.

“Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body...He is first in everything.”

1. WHERE IS YOUR SACRIFICE?

“I am glad when I suffer for you in my body, for I am participating in the sufferings of Christ that continue for His body, the church.”

Colossians 1:24 (NLT)

Joyful sacrifice is giving up something you love for something you love even more.

  • “New church” mode - you expect personal sacrifice, not personal comfort.

2. DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AS A SERVANT OR A BENEFICIARY?

“God has given me the responsibility of serving His church by proclaiming His entire message to you. This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people.”

Colossians 1:25-26 (NLT)

  • “New church” mode - sees possibilities and dreams what God could do, or sees barriers and reasons to be on the sideline.

3. ARE YOU FULFILLING YOUR “MISSION”?

“For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing His glory.”

Colossians 1:27 (NLT)

Jesus came not to make things right on earth, He came to make things right in your heart.

“So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.”

Colossians 1:28-29 (NLT)

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Micah 6:8 (NIV)

  • Love justice.

  • Have mercy.

  • Walk humbly with your God.

  • “New church” mode - You hear the voice of God firsthand and own the vision.
