Part 3: Intentional Church: A Hill To Die On
INTENTIONAL LIVING
PART - 3
1. JESUS CAME TO SEEK AND TO SAVE THE LOST.
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Luke 19:10 (NIV)
“There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way.”
Luke 19:2-4 (NLT)
“Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, ‘I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!’”
Luke 19:8 (NLT)
“...And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”
Acts 2:47b (NLT)
The Early Church…
Was comprised of people from all sorts of backgrounds.
Cared for those suffering and in need.
Was known for forgiveness and reconciliation.
Was committed to the sanctity of life.
Offered a sexual counter-culture.
People are looking for a new way of life.
2. OUR MISSION: HELP PEOPLE FIND JESUS.
“Make them holy by Your truth; teach them Your word, which is truth. Just as You sent Me into the world, I am sending them into the world. And I give Myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by Your truth.”
John 17:17-19 (NLT)
Be salt.
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”
Matthew 5:13 (NIV)
Be light.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”
Matthew 5:14-15 (NIV)
“This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be My disciples.”
John 15:8 (NIV)
Be intentional.
