Part 6: Jesus is the Hope of New Life

Who is jesus?

PART 6

“When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb.” Mark 16:1-2 (NIV)

“And they asked each other, ‘Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?’ But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.” Mark 16:3-4 (NIV)

As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. ‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here.’‘ See the place where they laid Him.’ But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you.’” Mark 16:5-7 (NIV)

“Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.” Mark 16:8 (NIV)

1. THE RESURRECTION CHALLENGES YOU TO DECIDE.

“Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.’” Mark 16:6 (NIV)

2. THE RESURRECTION GIVES YOU GRACE TO CHANGE YOUR HEART.

But go, tell His disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him, just as He told you.’” Mark 16:7 (NIV)

3. IF THE RESURRECTION REALLY DID HAPPEN, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR YOU?

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

  • Jesus is with you in His Word and message.

  • Jesus is with you in Christian community.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Matthew 28:20b (NIV)

  • Jesus is with you to the end.

“And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 (NIV)
