Part 1: Knowing the True God
WHAT’S YOUR NEXT MOVE?
PART 1
1 John 1:1-4
JESUS REALLY LIVED.
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The Life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.” 1 John 1:1-2 (NIV)
Jesus wasn’t just an idea.
The resurrection wasn’t in spirit only.
THE PURPOSE OF THE GOSPEL IS TO KNOW GOD AND EXPERIENCE HIM.
“We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.” 1 John 1:3-4 (NIV)
Fellowship - to share, to hold things in common.
“Now this is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” John 17:3 (NIV)
“This is what the Lord says: ‘Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know Me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!’” Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NLT)
The whole purpose of the Gospel is to transform our heart.
God is not trying to play spiritual hide and seek with you.
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” John 4:23 (NIV)
“However, as it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’ — the things God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV)
