Part 2: Loving People Who Love You
ROMANS 12: RELATIONSHIPS MATTER
PART 2
Romans 12:9-13
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35 (NIV)
CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS KIND OF LOVE
NO HYPOCRISY.
“Love must be sincere, hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” Romans 12:9 (NIV)
Jesus can’t help the fake you.
2. OUR LOVE SHOULD FEEL LIKE FAMILY.
“Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters...” Romans 12:10a (CSB)
Church should be like family - not an event you attend.
3. LOVE KNOWS THE INHERENT WORTH GOD HAS PLACED IN EVERY PERSON.
“...Outdo one another in showing honor.” Romans 12:10b (ESV)
Show honor to all people.
4. LOVE SHOWS OPTIMISM BECAUSE OF GOD’S PROMISES.
“Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Romans 12:11-12 (ESV)
I can have hope as I fix my eyes on God.
5. OUR LOVE SHOULD BE EXPRESSED IN TANGIBLE ACTION.
“Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” Romans 12:13 (NIV)
Take care of the church family and people outside the church.
