Part 2: Not Me, But You
MODGNIK – PART 2
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:45 (ESV)
1. WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR IDENTITY?
Love God and love people.
“And He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Matthew 22:37-39 (ESV)
2. WHY SERVING OTHERS = SUCCESS.
“And they came to Capernaum. And when He was in the house He asked them, ‘What were you discussing on the way?’ But they kept silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest.”
Mark 9:33-34 (ESV)
“And He sat down and called the twelve. And He said to them, ‘If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.’”
Mark 9:35 (ESV)
Jesus doesn’t abolish ambition or riches, He just redefines them.
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21 (ESV)
We are never more Christ-like than when we are serving, but we are never more anti-Christ than when we expect to be served.
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.”
Ephesians 5:25 (ESV)
“You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet...If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”
John 13:13-14, 17 (ESV)
