Part 1: Putting It All On The Line

HEAT, FUEL, AND OXYGEN

PART - 1

“Then He (Jesus) said to the crowd, ‘If any of you wants to be My follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it.’”

Luke 9:23-24 (NLT)

Putting Jesus first means we:

1. LOVE GOD.

“‘Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?’ Jesus replied, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.’”

Matthew 22:36-38 (NLT)

2. LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR.

“A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:39-40 (NLT)

TWO SIMPLE WAYS TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR:

  • Practice hospitality.

“When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.”

Romans 12:13 (NLT)

  • Be present with them.

“Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying…Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!”

Romans 12:12; 15-16 (NLT)

MY NEXT STEP TODAY IS TO:
