BIBLICAL LESSONS ABOUT ENVY

• ENVY LEADS YOU TO BE DISCONTENT.

“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” Proverbs 14:30 (NIV)

• ENVY MAKES YOU RESENTFUL.

“At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy...” Titus 3:3-5a (NIV)

• ENVY DISTRACTS YOU FROM GOD’S PLAN.

“For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.” James 3:16 (NIV)

• Celebrate the victories of those you are tempted to compare yourself to.

“Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.” Galatians 6:4 (NIV)

• Start writing down all of your opportunities and blessings.

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)
