Part 4: The Price of an Untamed Ego
DANIEL – PART 4
Daniel 4
“I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at home in my palace, contented and prosperous.”
Daniel 4:4 (NIV)
“I saw a dream that made me afraid. As I lay in bed the fancies and the visions of my head alarmed me.”
Daniel 4:5 (ESV)
The Dream: Daniel 4:13-17
“So I made a decree that all the wise men of Babylon should be brought before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. Then the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the astrologers came in, and I told them the dream, but they could not make known to me its interpretation.”
Daniel 4:6-7 (ESV)
“Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue.”
Daniel 4:27 (NIV)
“At the end of twelve months he was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, and the king answered and said, ‘Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?’”
Daniel 4:29-30 (ESV)
“Immediately the word was fulfilled against Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from among men and ate grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair grew as long as eagles' feathers, and his nails were like birds' claws.”
Daniel 4:33 (ESV)
“At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified Him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; His kingdom endures from generation to generation.”
Daniel 4:34 (NIV)
“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are right and His ways are just; and those who walk in pride He is able to humble.”
Daniel 4:37 (ESV)
LESSONS TO TAKE WITH YOU THIS WEEK
1. I AM JUST FOOLING MYSELF WHEN I THINK I’M IN CONTROL.
“For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
Romans 1:21 (ESV)
2. A KEY SPIRITUAL STEP IN MY LIFE IS TO HUMBLE MYSELF BEFORE GOD.
Ask: God, would You be God in my life?
Pray: God, what do You want me to do? God, please help me do it.
MY NEXT STEP TODAY IS TO:
Give up my fear of not being in control and humbly ask God to be God in my life.
Ask God what He wants me to do right now.
