Romans 12:9-21

  • Crestview’s Mission Statement:  Helping people experience life change through Jesus Christ.

1.  YOU NEED A SPIRITUAL FAMILY.

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:10 (NIV)

  • Everyone can be in the family.

Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.” Romans 12:10 (NLT)

  • There is non-privacy in the family.

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” Romans 12:9 (NIV)

  • We love each other and never give up on the family.

Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” Romans 12:13 (NIV)

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”  Romans 12:11-12 (NIV)

Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” Romans 12:15 (NIV)

2.  WE ARE GRACIOUS TO THOSE OUTSIDE THE SPIRITUAL FAMILY.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” Romans 12:14 (NIV)

Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is Mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord. On the contrary: ‘If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.’” Romans 12:19-20 (NIV)

  • Your spiritual growth is directly impacted by whether or not you have Christian community in your life.

“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are His dear children.  Live a life filled with love, following the example of ChristHe loved us and offered Himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2 (NLT)
