PART 5
Jeremiah 29:1-14
Crestview’s Mission Statement:
Helping people experience life change through Jesus Christ.
The backstory of Jeremiah 29:
GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS:
1. LIVE THERE, SETTLE DOWN THERE, BE THERE.
“This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: ‘Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease.’” Jeremiah 29:4-6 (NIV)
“This is what the Lord says: ‘You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’” Jeremiah 29:10-11 (NLT)
2. RESPECTFULLY RESIST THE VALUES OF THE WORLD.
“This is what the Lord says: ‘You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again.” Jeremiah 29:10 (NLT)
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:20 (NIV)
3. SEEK THE PEACE AND PROSPERITY OF THE CITY.
“And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.” Jeremiah 29:7 (NLT)
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they be secure who love you!” Psalm 122:6 (ESV)
You have a mission from God in Midland.
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (NIV)
