Part 5: Who Are You Going To Trust In 2021?

BEHIND THE SCENES: THE CHRISTMAS STORY - PART 5

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

1. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE TRUST THE LORD WITH ALL OUR HEART?

  • We are not trusting ourselves.

  • We are seeking God’s plan.

  • We will discover God’s direction.

2. WHAT DOES TRUST LOOK LIKE?

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world , but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you , which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Romans 12:1-2 (NLT)

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God , who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Galatians 2:20 (NLT)

“If any of you wants to be My follower, you must give up your own way , take up your cross daily, and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it.”

Luke 9:23-24 (NLT)

3. SURRENDER DAILY TO JESUS CHRIST.

  • Give up on the world’s path to happiness and fulfillment.

  • Give up on the illusion that your own efforts will bring you fulfillment.

  • Give your life to Jesus , because He gave up His life for you.

Our flesh will always want to “carpe diem” - take the day.

God’s Spirit will always say “dare diem” - give the day.

“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: . . hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division . . . But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there . Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” Galatians 5:19-25 (NLT)

4. WHAT DOES A “SURRENDERED” LIFE LOOK LIKE?

  • Awareness of God’s grace.

  • Full of the Spirit’s fruit.

MY NEXT STEP TODAY IS TO :

  • Surrender my life to Jesus Christ and begin following Him.

  • Surrender to Jesus Christ and His path each morning this week when I wake up (set a reminder on my phone).
