Part 5: Authenticity

THE CORE 5 - PART 5

1.   OUR ENVIRONMENT MAGNIFIES THE GOSPEL MESSAGE.

“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”

Acts 4:31 (NIV)

“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.”

Acts 4:32 (NIV)

“With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all.”

Acts 4:33 (NIV)

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.”

John 3:17 (NIV)

  • Everyone is looking for hope

2.  BEING REAL WITH OTHERS - BRINGS HEALING AND REDEMPTION

“As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. ‘Follow me,’ He told him, and Matthew got up and followed Him.”

Matthew 9:9 (NIV)

“Later, Matthew invited Jesus and His disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners.”

Matthew 9:10 (NLT)

“When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, ‘Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?’”

Matthew 9:11 (NIV)

“On hearing this, Jesus said, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.” For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.’”

Matthew 9:12-13 (NIV)

  • When we mess this up, it messes people up.
