Crestview Mission Statement: Helping people experience life change through Jesus Christ.
“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.” Ephesians 4:26-27 (ESV)
TWO RESPONSES TO ANGER:
1. Sinful anger
“‘In your anger do not sin’: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.” Ephesians 4:26-27 (NIV)
Sinful anger is enduring.
“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” James 1:19 (NIV)
Sinful anger is impulsive.
“Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.” Proverbs 16:32 (NIV)
Sinful anger is uncontrolled.
2. Righteous anger
“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” James 1:19-20 (NIV)
Righteous anger is patient.
“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.” Romans 12:18-19 (NIV)
Righteous anger is surrendered.
“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.” Ephesians 4:26-27 (ESV)
