Part 4: Fully Known and Loved
PSALMS - PART 4
PSALM 139
“Prayer is the means by which our language becomes honest, true, and personal in response to God.” - Eugene Peterson
1. GOD KNOWS EVERY SINGLE THING THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT ME.
“You have searched me, Lord, and You know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue You, Lord, know it completely.”
Psalm 139:1-4 (NIV)
“You go before me and follow me. You place Your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand. I can never escape from Your Spirit! I can never get away from Your Presence!”
Psalm 139:5-7 (NLT)
Verses 1-7 are an invitation into authenticity.
“How precious are Your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, You are still with me!”
Psalm 139:17-18 (NLT)
Even in our worst moments, God’s thoughts toward us are filled with compassion.
2. ANXIETY IS FED BY A FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN, AND A FEAR OF NOT BEING FULLY KNOWN.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.”
Psalm 139:23 (NLT)
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.”
1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)
“Point out anything in me that offends You, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
Psalm 139:24 (NLT
God’s goal for us is spiritual growth.
