Part 9: Praying Your Worship

PSALMS OF SUMMER

PART 9

Psalm 95:1-11

1.  WHAT IS WORSHIP?

  • Worship - the action of giving ultimate value to something.

“Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come to Him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to Him.” Psalm 95:1-2 (NLT)

Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” Psalm 95:6 (NLT)

“For He is our God. We are the people He watches over, the flock under His care. If only you would listen to His voice today! The Lord says, ‘Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness.’” Psalm 95:7-8 (NLT)

For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods. He holds in His hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. The sea belongs to Him, for He made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker, for He is our God. We are the people He watches over, the flock under His care. If only you would listen to His voice today!” Psalm 95:3-7 (NLT)

2.  WHY SHOULD WE WORSHIP GOD?

  • Answer: Because you are already worshiping something.

“For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.” Psalm 95:3 (NIV)

3.  WHAT YOU NEED TO GROW IN WORSHIP:

  • Community.

“Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come to Him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to Him… Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” Psalm 95:1-2, 6 (NLT)

  • Truth.

“For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods. He holds in His hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. The sea belongs to Him, for He made it. His hands formed the dry land, too …for He is our God. We are the people He watches over, the flock under His care. If only you would listen to His voice today!”   Psalm 95:3-5, 7 (NLT)

  • You can’t have a hard heart.

“For He is our God. We are the people He watches over, the flock under His care. If only you would listen to His voice today! The Lord says, ‘Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness. For there your ancestors tested and tried My patience, even though they saw everything I did.’” Psalm 95:7-9 (NLT)
