Part 4: Sawdust and Logs
HEAT, FUEL, AND OXYGEN
PART - 4
Who is my neighbor? Anyone God brings across my path.
Is it ever ok to judge your neighbor?
1. TREAT YOUR ENEMIES THE WAY YOU WANT YOUR ENEMIES TO TREAT YOU.
“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them.”
Luke 6:27-29 (NIV)
“Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.”
Luke 6:30-32 (NIV)
“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”
Luke 6:35-36 (NIV)
2. JUDGE YOUR NEIGHBOR THE WAY YOU WANT GOD TO JUDGE YOU.
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Luke 6:37-38 (NIV)
3. FIX YOURSELF BEFORE YOU TRY TO FIX YOUR NEIGHBOR.
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye, when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.’”
Luke 6:41-42 (NIV)
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Romans 12:21 (NIV)
MY NEXT STEP TODAY IS TO:
Pray for my enemies.
Thank God for His mercy and forgiveness.
Ask God to help me see the planks in my eye that are present.
