Part 1: Starting Point

ANCHOR HABITS

PART - 1

  • How many of you are hoping next year is better than last year?

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13 (NIV)

  • If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.

  • Habit - an acquired mode of behavior.

1. IF YOU CHANGE YOUR SPIRITUAL HABITS, YOU CAN LITERALLY CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”

Luke 5:16 (NIV)

“When He came to the village of Nazareth, His boyhood home, He went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures.”

Luke 4:16 (NLT)

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)

2. WHY DO WE STRUGGLE IN MAKING SPIRITUAL CHANGES, EVEN WHEN WE WANT IT?

  • We have a tendency to overestimate the big moments and underestimate the power of small, daily steps toward God.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

Galatians 6:9 (NLT)

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Romans 12:2 (NLT)
