Part 5: The Bible in Your Life

PRACTICING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

PART 5

Psalm 119

1.  THE SCRIPTURE IS ABSOLUTELY  AUTHORITATIVE.

“Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord.” Psalm 119:1 (NIV)

  • Authoritative = These are not suggestions.

Blessed are those who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart—” Psalm 119:2 (NIV)

  • Statutes = Commands of God that are permanent and true.

All Your words are true; all Your righteous laws are eternal.” Psalm 119:160 (NIV)

2.  THE SCRIPTURE HAS LIFE-CHANGING POWER

Guide my steps by Your Word, so I will not be overcome by evil.” Psalm 119:133 (NLT)

Lord, give me Your unfailing love, the salvation that You promised me. Then I can answer those who taunt me, for I trust in Your Word.” Psalm 119:41-42 (NLT)

  • The Bible leads you into a personal relationship with God.

3.  HOW DO I PUT THE BIBLE IN MY LIFE?

  • You need to be guided by the Word of God.

“Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 (NLT)

Guide my steps by Your Word, so I will not be overcome by evil.” Psalm 119:133 (NLT)

I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in Your words.” Psalm 119:147 (NLT)

I will praise You seven times a day because all Your regulations are just.” Psalm 119:164 (NLT)

  • You need to meditate on God’s Word.

The teaching of Your Word gives light, so even the simple can understand.” Psalm 119:130 (NLT)

But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom also He made the universe.” Hebrews 1:2 (NIV)
