Matthew 1:18-25
Are you all in with God?
Why did God do it this way?
1. WHAT FOLLOWING JESUS LOOKS LIKE:
Trust and absolute obedience.
“When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.” Matthew 1:24 (NIV)
Willingness to welcome inconvenience.
“What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things... Philippians 3:8a (NIV)
2. WHERE DO YOU FIND THE STRENGTH TO FOLLOW JESUS?
God keeps His promises then and now.
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel–(which means, God with us).” Matthew 1:23 (ESV)
“All right then, the Lord Himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a Son and will call Him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).” Isaiah 7:14 (NLT)
Jesus is Immanuel.
“And she will have a Son, and you are to name Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins…Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a Son, and they will call Him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” Matthew 1:21, 23 (NLT)
You will only experience God’s best if you do it God’s way.
