The Darkness of Good Friday
GOOD FRIDAY 2025
Mark 15:33-39
1. THE DARKNESS SIGNIFIES THE SPIRITUAL DARKNESS WE ALL HAVE.
“At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.” Mark 15:33 (NIV)
“Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on Me. But this is your hour—when darkness reigns.” Luke 22:53 (NIV)
Spiritual Darkness - If anything but God is most important to you.
2. DARKNESS CAME DOWN ON JESUS.
“And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, 'Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?’). Mark 15:34 (NIV)
3. HOW JESUS REMOVES OUR DARKNESS.
“With a loud cry, Jesus breathed His last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” Mark 15:37-38 (NIV)
The Curtain - Jesus was the sacrifice that ends all sacrifice.
“And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how He died, he said, ‘Surely this Man was the Son of God!’” Mark 15:39 (NIV)
The Centurion - Anyone can come to God.
