Part 5: What Matters Most - Parable of the Pearl
PARABLES OF JESUS
PART 5
Matthew 13:44-46
The two parables show us:
-You need to see what others don’t see.
-There’s no halfway with Jesus, you have to be all in.
DO YOU REALIZE THE VALUE OF THE GOSPEL?
“The Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.” Matthew 13:44 (NIV)
“‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’—the things God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV)
Being a Christian is a total change of who is in charge.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Romans 1:16 (NIV)
IS JESUS YOUR TREASURE?
“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.” Matthew 13:45-46 (NIV)
“But all those things that I might count as profit I now reckon as loss for Christ's sake. Not only those things; I reckon everything as complete loss for the sake of what is so much more valuable, the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have thrown everything away; I consider it all as mere garbage, so that I may gain Christ.” Philippians 3:7-8 (GNT)
The main problem is not just our actions, not just our breaking the rules - the main problem is our lack of love for Jesus.
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!” Revelation 3:15 (NIV)
Is Jesus your treasure?
